FocusGuard does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information.
Everything the extension needs to work is stored locally in your own browser and never leaves your device.
What FocusGuard stores
To do its job, FocusGuard saves the following in your browser's local extension storage
(chrome.storage.local):
The list of websites (domains) you choose to track.
The daily time limit you set for each site.
How much active time you've spent on each site today.
The date of the last daily reset.
This data stays on your computer. It is not sent to us or to any third party, and there are no
analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts in the extension.
What FocusGuard does not do
No account, sign-up, or login is required.
No browsing history is collected or stored.
No page content is read, recorded, or transmitted.
No data is sent to any server, and none is sold or shared.
Permissions & why they're needed
Storage — to remember your tracked sites, limits, and daily usage on your device.
Web Navigation — to detect when a tab loads a site you track, so timing and blocking work.
Tabs — to read the current tab's domain (for "Track this site"), to find tabs of a site that
reached its limit so they can be blocked, and to close a tab from the block screen.
Notifications — to show an optional heads-up when you're approaching a limit.
Alarms — to reset counters daily at midnight and keep timing accurate after the browser sleeps.
Host access (all sites) — because you may set a limit on any website of your choosing;
this access is used only to measure active time on the sites you pick and to show the local block page.
It is never used to read or send page content.
Data retention & removal
Your data lives only in your browser. You can clear it any time from the extension's Advanced →
"Reset all settings", or by removing the extension, which deletes all of its stored data.
Children's privacy
FocusGuard collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
